Think About This

The mind and its thoughts are powerful. Where we allow our minds to go, whether wandering or purposefully directed, affects us in a profound way. What we think about is vital. Paul writes to those at Philippi,

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

-Philippians 4:8

Truth, honesty, justness, purity, loveliness, things of good report, the virtuous and the praise worthy- these are the things Paul incites his readers to direct thoughts to. Music guides thought. Music influences mood and emotion. Music has a powerful voice. It touches the deepest recesses of the soul. Oftentimes music will enter where words cannot and will not go. The striking uniqueness of song is music coupled with text. Good music will express the words in ways the words can never express themselves. The color, the energy, the mood, the rhythms and the weight of the music bring lyrics to a life they do not possess without it.

The aim of the music I play, sing, write, perform, record and share is to aid the listener in achieving a Philippians 4:8 experience.

We live in a very difficult time. Constantly we are bombarded with attacks that threaten to derail our minds from the values Paul instructs his readers to follow. The shallowness of our culture attempts to keep these deep eternal truths far from our minds. The aim of the music I play, sing, write, perform, record and share is to aid the listener in achieving a Philippians 4:8 experience. Through God’s help I pray the music I share with you, dear listener, will aid you in achieving the blissful, beautiful and lovely state Philippians 4:8 encourages.
